Walking for Hope
Join Luigi on his "Walk of Hope" – a 3,000-kilometre pilgrimage through different countries and sanctuaries to support Mary's Meals in reaching and feeding 3 million children in the world's poorest countries.
Luigi will leave on 25 March from Loreto Sanctuary in Italy, walking via Rome to Lourdes in France. He will then walk on to Santiago de Compostela in Spain and end his pilgrimage in Portugal, with Fatima as his final destination.
Who is Luigi?
Based in the Marche region of Italy, Luigi Farroni has been a Mary's Meals volunteer since 2015. Passionate and fully committed, Luigi fundraises for Mary's Meals in parishes, village festivals and various local events. His enthusiasm for the Mary's Meals movement and his willingness to spread our vision has helped raise awareness of our life-changing work across Italy and beyond.
Luigi had always dreamed of making an important pilgrimage on foot and was inspired to make it a reality after Pope Francis' announcement about the Catholic Jubilee – "Pilgrims of Hope" – which is taking place in Rome this year.
The aim of the “Walk of Hope”
Raise awareness – to raise awareness of Mary's Meals' mission to provide school meals to children in some of the world's poorest countries.
Fundraising – to help Mary's Meals reach the next hungry child waiting.

How to participate

Walk with Luigi – join Luigi and walk for a few kilometres or days of the pilgrimage.

Hospitality – offer Luigi an evening meal or bed and breakfast during his walk.
Event – organise an evening event, Luigi will be available for a testimony.
Spread the message – share Luigi's pilgrimage via social media, phone and word of mouth with friends and family
Prayer – support Luigi spiritually on his journey.
