Panji Kajani, Country Director of Mary’s Meals Zambia and Zimbabwe
Humans of Mary's Meals

1. How long have you worked at Mary’s Meals?
I have been part of Mary’s Meals for 11 years. I started on 1st July 2011 in Malawi.
2. What does your job involve?
I lead an ambitious and energetic team to deliver school meals in Zambia and Zimbabwe. I provide strategic and operational support to ensure over 500,000 children in these two countries have a daily meal in their places of education. As I do this, I also play the role of custodian of the Mary’s Meals image in these two countries and being a link with external stakeholders like governments.
3. What is the best thing about working for Mary’s Meals?
It is easy to see the results of our joint efforts which leads to immediate joy. The work has short- and long-term lasting, positive effects on me and the children.
4. What have you learned about yourself/others since joining Mary's Meals?
My interaction with many in the Mary’s Meals family and outside has also confirmed to me that we are all “leaders” within the context we are functioning and should use that opportunity to influence positively.
There are always opportunities to be beneficial to mankind.
5. Could you tell me something interesting about yourself?
If you are being hosted by me, you will be warned: “be prepared to listen to country western and reggae songs all day if you are with Panji”. I am frequently told that I listen to too many of these music styles. Fortunately, it is not true, I believe that I just listen to good music which happens to be done in these two beautiful genres!
