Alex Keay
Director of Programme Affiliates and Partners

Alex Keay first joined Mary’s Meals as a volunteer in the early 2000s while pursuing a career in Aquaculture and Marine Science. An interest in humanitarian work led him to spend a year in Liberia, working with displaced communities and refugees – including former child soldiers who were trying to rebuild their lives after a brutal 14-year conflict.
Today, Alex serves as the Director of Programme Affiliates and Partners at Mary’s Meals International (MMI). In this capacity, he works closely with teams around the world to ensure communities are equipped to deliver consistent and reliable school feeding so that millions of children can receive nutritious meals each school day.
As a prominent spokesperson for Mary’s Meals, Alex offers a wealth of knowledge and firsthand experience. He has spent time in several countries where children receive Mary’s Meals, including Ethiopia, Mozambique, Haiti, South Sudan, Kenya, and Malawi. Through his extensive travels and interactions, he has fostered lasting relationships with key in-country stakeholders, gaining invaluable insights into the transformative impact of school meals on children, their families, their communities, and their future opportunities, as well as the challenges faced by communities living in poverty and experiencing hunger. His profound appreciation of the difficulties faced by vulnerable communities makes him a compelling voice on the work of the global school feeding charity and wider topics concerning hunger and international development.
